“Writing stories is a child’s opportunity to be heard.” Children have a fun time with rhyme... their imaginations fly high, and the writing desire...is definitely inspired!
For the schools: This unique program motivates students to write their own stories after they hear from a published author how easy it is to write stories that inspire, educate or tickle the funny bone. Teachers are provided a guide for reinforcing Cheryl Russell’s message that includes suggestions for writing projects, class activities, bulletin board ideas and even a template for a parent letter introducing the lesson plan. A school-wide writing contest is conducted along with a book sales campaign providing a fundraising opportunity for students, families and friends to raise money for their school or individual classrooms. A Celebration Ceremony concludes the program with the announcement of writing contest winners, acknowledgment of creative StarHeart activities and a check for 25% of all StarHeart book sales. Modified programs are available for libraries and organizations.
